Religion: Private or Public?

How should our faith play out in our lives? I may be blowing things wildly out of proportion, but I do believe that this is a critical issue that must be addressed. Should it be a matter of personal preference and interpretation to be silently contemplated in isolation?

No.

I highly disagree with the sentiment that seems to take root in many of us (even me at one point) that our faith should remain a private matter. It is perhaps that in our interpretation that our faith should be personal that we have misguidedly confined it to being private as well. I emphatically believe that Christianity should be practiced both publicly and privately. Practicing it exclusively in private does not proclaim the good news which we have been commissioned to carry to the ends of the earth. Likewise, practicing our faith publicly rings hollow because if we are not truly repentant, we have not received the salvation that we seek. Yes, there are private aspects of how we practice and live our faith, but likewise there is an outward seeking component to share the good news with others and to love our neighbors as we love ourselves. If we are lacking in any of these aspects, we are unbalanced in our walk with Christ and then are drawn off the path.

What do you think? Should our faith be kept more as a private matter or should it be lived both publicly and privately?

Light refers to the amount of nicotine content within the tobacco. While that may only reduce the nicotine exposure, it does not change the exposure to the various tars present in tobacco smoke (mostly from burning the additives used to cure the leaves). It is the tar that is the most harmful to your health while the nicotine keeps you addicted.

Creation and Evolution

While I may not be an expert (read college degree) regarding either topic, I am placed at this position because I am both a Christian and an aspiring researcher in molecular biology. Just to help myself understand what other people think and perhaps to further sharpen and hone my own ideas, I have a few questions to ask you, the reader, that are pertinent to this topic/debate.

What is your definition of "Evolution"?

Is the current view of creationism (as God speaking everything in the universe into existence out of nothing the instant God gave the command) the ONLY method by which God could have made the universe? (I'm not questioning if God was the one to make the universe, that I firmly believe. I'm asking if the method that we derive from our current interpretation of the scriptures is the only way,)

Are the ideas of Christianity and Evolution mutually exclusive (believing in one inherently leads to rejection of the other)?

Please feel free to quote bible verses and real life examples (preferrably with references) in your answers.
