Creation and Evolution
While I may not be an expert (read college degree) regarding either topic, I am placed at this position because I am both a Christian and an aspiring researcher in molecular biology. Just to help myself understand what other people think and perhaps to further sharpen and hone my own ideas, I have a few questions to ask you, the reader, that are pertinent to this topic/debate.
What is your definition of "Evolution"?
Is the current view of creationism (as God speaking everything in the universe into existence out of nothing the instant God gave the command) the ONLY method by which God could have made the universe? (I'm not questioning if God was the one to make the universe, that I firmly believe. I'm asking if the method that we derive from our current interpretation of the scriptures is the only way,)
Are the ideas of Christianity and Evolution mutually exclusive (believing in one inherently leads to rejection of the other)?
Please feel free to quote bible verses and real life examples (preferrably with references) in your answers.

Hey dude,
I saw this post on the home page and I hope you don't mind the two cents of a total stranger. At the risk of sounding like a heretic, for practicality reasons, it might not matter if the true story of life's beginning was pure creation or some hybrid between it and evolution. Since Jesus didn't say anything specific on the subject of creation vs. evolution, nothing about that debate would make him not who he said he was. I understand that you research molecular biology, so I guess it would matter on a different level. What made it easier for me was knowing that all theories are only as good as the weakest point. Until mankind can prove it is possible to create life from non-life or sentience and self-awareness in lifeforms that did not have them already, those miracles will stay miracles in my mind.
Maybe this wasn't the response you were hoping for, but I hope it helped.
Very good points. I get the feeling that you are the kind of person who finds the premise of the phrase "faith vs. reason" to be inherently wrong.
